Game Off (GitHub + Lee Reilly) - 'Secrets'

Crazy Web Game Jam (CrazyGames + GameJamPlus) - 'Remix"
For our team submission to these two game jams in November 2024 I was on art direction and modelling.
We made our game about flipping between 2 aspects and aesthetics of a character, because we wanted it to be visually striking, um, cheaply:
“Remi the Rabbit is the bunny with the best ‘buds in CandyLand, known all over for his love and tireless pursuit of the most fabulous ice-cream flavours. What his fans don’t know is that Remi has a secret dark side...
Remington IX is the most brilliant rabbit alchemist in the Shadow Worlds, famous for his incredible potions and eccentric genius. If his admirers only knew that Reminton IX has a secret bright side...”
The mechanic involved replacing game objects wholesale based on a timer, so I could simply create two distinct asset sets and drop them in 1:1.
For Remi the Rabbit, I had an environment made of candy trees and fluffy clouds. I envisioned this world as relentlessly glossy, sticky, sunshine-candy-coloured and too-cute.
The world of Remington, a mad scientist, was uncanny, crooked, shadowy, interior and hand-made.

I had to whip up this set in a huge hurry (because we got all excited about a game with double-assets) , and I wanted to keep the base models pretty low-poly to keep our game agile. I created a game doc to help my developer keep the replacement process straightforward, and to lay out the contrast of the worlds.
I loved working with my fantastic team:

Character Design
I had to tone down the height variation in the 2 characters so that they could be seamlessly replaced: the player camera was positioned just behind the player object in the game and the drop was really jarring when Remington was much taller than Remi. I was a bit sad because his long scary Skellington legs are so evocative, but I still think he's a cool lil' wierdo creep in his stumpier form.

Enemies Mechanic:
In Candyland, the enemy is an Uncanny Carrot. In the ShadowLand, it's a relentlessly optimistic unicorn cupcake that shoots rainbow poo.
I did think that it's important to show this POC test sequence for posterity.
